An earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale took place in Pazarcık, Kahramanmaraş at 04.17 hours on February 6, 2023.


A total of 243 earthquakes occurred including a 7.6-magnitude earthquake that hit Elbistan.
According to initially available information from SAKOM, 2,921 people have lost their lives and 15,834 individuals have been injured in Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Adana, Adıyaman, Osmaniye, Hatay, Kilis and Malatya.
13,740 search and rescue workers, 316 vehicles and 3,361 (with 629 crane) pieces of construction equipment have been deployed to the affected area. A total of 2,660 teams from 65 countries have contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to offer assistance.
30 governors and 47 district governors have been assigned to disaster areas.
The Military Chief of Staff has planned the deployment of staff members from Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir with six A400Ms, six C130s and nineteen CN235s, four ambulances and KC-135s, two helicopters and two Akıncı UAVs. These aircrafts flew 146 sorties.


34 helicopters were assigned from the Gendarmerie. Two helicopters and three JIKUs are operating constantly.
TCG Bayraktar and TCG Sancaktar ships were employed by the Naval Forces to deliver personnel and materials to the affected area. In addition, the TCG İskenderun ship, which was assigned for evacuation, was sent to İskenderun İsdemir Port. The injured citizens were started to be taken on board. An additional two helicopters of the Coast Guard Command are operating as well.
350,000,000 TL was allocated to the disaster area as a state of emergency. 250,000,000 TL was allocated from the Ministry of Family and Social Services and 100,000,000 TL was provided by AFAD.
