Scaffolding training experts, Simian International, have recently launched the next step in their endeavour to ensure effective scaffolding safety across the world, with their new e-learning site.
The new site will provide a platform for scaffolding workers in overseas developing countries to improve their skill sets and help them to work at height in the safest manner possible.
After choosing a module, trainees will be taken through tutorials, animations and mock exams in preparation for their final scaffolding safety exam on that particular subject. Those that pass their final exam will receive a certificate from the Simian International team to evidence that they have undertaken training and passed.
The e-learning site offers a number of modules covering a range of scaffolding disciplines, these are:
- Birdcage scaffolds
- Scaffold components
- Independent scaffolds
- Working at height
- Manual handling
- Scaffold towers
The aim of the e-learning site is to ensure that those in scaffolding roles receive relevant training by industry experts regardless of their location. It is hoped that the training will reach many individuals who would otherwise struggle to travel to one of Simian International’s training centres. Trainees are able to work through their online training modules in their own time, therefore ultimately there will be less downtime for scaffolders working on a busy construction site.
The site will firstly be released in English, with a further five languages planned in the coming months:
- Chinese (Mandarin)
- Hindi
- Korean
- Nepalese
- Urdu
Overseas Operations Director of Simian International, Ian Fyall has said: ‘Our online training will give people the opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills of scaffolding best practice from their own home. Employers throughout the world will be able to provide workers with effective training that will ensure a safe working environment and help improve standards.’
