RoSPA Celebrates It's 100th Birthday

Join in with the celebrations at the Safety & Health Expo

Visitors to this year’s Safety and Health Expo can join in with RoSPA’s centenary celebrations and enjoy a host of expert advice, discounted training and services, and giveaways from the safety charity.

To mark 100 years of accident prevention, RoSPA is bringing training and membership offers, ask the expert sessions, and games and prizes – including ‘The Tufty Test’ – to its stand (M300) on June 20-22.

There will also be an exclusive first look at the brand new, upgraded version of RoSPA’s highly-popular Driver Profiler fleet risk assessment tool, which has a raft of additional features and updates. Advisers will be on hand with a demo presentation and to help visitors claim their free trial.

Throughout the event, RoSPA experts Karen McDonnell, occupational safety and health policy adviser, and Andrew Love, fleet audit consultant, feature prominently on the speaker line up at the various theatres at expo

This year’s Expo also coincides with the London leg of the RoSPA Health and Safety Awards 2017, taking place on Tuesday (June 20).

Julia Small, head of awards and events at RoSPA, said: “As part of our centenary celebrations this year, we have more on offer at Expo than ever before. Come and check out our great offers and discounts on stand, and take part in our competitions for the chance to win an iPad Pro and a year’s subscription to Netflix and Amazon Prime.

“For 100 years RoSPA has been saving lives and reducing injury through accident prevention, and our experts will be on hand throughout the three days of Expo to advise on how you and your business can help us in our mission.”

Accidents are the biggest threat to you and your family for most your life. In fact, more than 14,000 people die as a result of accidents across the UK each year, while thousands more are maimed and millions are injured. Businesses are ruined. Families are devastated. Children grow up without parents, parents without children. Yet despite the scale and severity of the problem, accidents are still too often discussed with a shrug of the shoulders. There is a pervasive belief amongst some people that accidents are somehow inevitable. That they can't be stopped. Imagine if we took the same attitude towards child abuse. Or cancer. For almost 100 years, RoSPA has been quietly working behind the scenes to change both legislation and attitudes surrounding accidents. From the compulsory wearing of seatbelts and the campaign to stop drink driving, to the Cycling Proficiency Test and to the more recent ban on handheld mobile phones behind the wheel, RoSPA has been instrumental in shaping our society for the better, preventing millions of deaths and serious injuries along the way. As a registered charity, we are committed to continuing this legacy of change.
