Preventing occupational health risks to home delivery and retail workers

Occupational risks to home delivery and retail workers and ways employers can create safer and healthier working environments for them will be explored at an upcoming conference on Wednesday 13 November. Organised by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health’s (IOSH) Logistics and Retail Group, the conference will see a range of high-profile organisations present on innovations in better behavioural safety and how they are working to support lone workers, prevent slips, trips and falls and more.

SoloProtect, Slip Safety Services, PsychaLogica and Briggs are among the leading organisations who will be presenting, offering expert insights into hazards and risks in the logistics, retail, food and drink sectors and how they are at the forefront of looking after workers’ safety and health and preventing risk. Other areas the conference will focus on include: – awareness of the human factors that are essential to working safely through safety leadership – implementing effective workplace transport – car fleets and driving for better business Andrew Mawson, Chair of IOSH’s Logistics and Retail Group, said: “Occupational health issues can particularly affect remote and lone workers, such as home delivery and warehouse workers, many of whom spend significant periods of the working day on their own.

It is vital we develop solutions to protect vulnerable workers and ensure colleagues are not put at risk in the workplace. “This conference will be an excellent opportunity to hear and talk to key speakers on subjects that affect us all in logistics and retail.
