Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHAD) announced the launch of the OSH Program for the working Mother under the slogan “Today’s Baby, Tomorrow’s Employee”. The launch of this program marks Emirati Women’s Day celebrated on August 28th of each year.
On this occasion, Dr. Jaber Eidha Al Jaberi, Director General of OSHAD, thanked all Emirati working women, expressing his pride for their achievements in the advancement of the society and the country at large.
Dr. Al Jaberi also gave special thanks to women working in the occupational safety and health field in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, noting that the number of registered women in Qudorat Program reached 103 OSH practitioners and auditors from both public and private sectors.
Dr. Jaber added that “H.H Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, has chosen the 28th of August as the Emirati Women’s Day to celebrate the high status of women in UAE at social, economic and political levels”.
Thanks to women empowerment in all sectors, they have made unprecedented achievements over the past decades and have played an active role in socio-economic development, he stressed.
He also pointed out that “Protecting working women from occupational injuries and diseases is necessary for supporting their vital role in development. Therefore, OSHAD, through Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health System Framework (OSHAD-SF), has developed a set of standards and requirements that employers must meet to protect new and expectant mothers” . To achieve this, OSHAD launched the OSH Program for Working Mothers to raise the awareness of employers and entities OSH coordinators on the occupational risks related to new and expectant mothers.
Reem Al Nuaimi, Deputy Director General of OSHAD, said “we highly appreciate the efforts of our wise leadership and their diligent and limitless support which empowered Emirati women to prove themselves at the national and international levels. Emirati women have shown increasing interest in all fields and through this support and interest, they where able to prove their efficiency and excellence in in all tasks”, she added.
It is important to highlight that this program will continue over the coming years and the awareness materials developed for this occasion are available on OSHAD website.
All employers and entities working in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi are encouraged to participate in this program and to use the awareness materials available on OSHAD website. They can also take part in workshops organized by OSHAD for educating new and expectant working mothers on safety measures that help provide safe and healthy workplaces for all working mothers.
