Last year was a challenging year for all. Managing and preventing the spread of the coronavirus at work was a priority for our members and businesses around the world. We worked hard to support occupational safety and health (OSH) professionals with key information and webinars on pandemic-related issues, advice on career development, and training programmes.

By working together with our members, businesses and the OSH community, we achieved significant positive impacts in 2020, which we were proud to share on our social media channels last month.

Supporting you through Covid-19

In 2021, we will continue to provide the latest advice and guidance on managing Covid-19 and will support members with resources and training to progress their career in safety and health.

Our Covid-19 webinar series will share key information on pandemic-related issues and our coronavirus webpages will be regularly updated to provide you with information on our latest webinars, guides and e-learning.

Join our second Future Leaders Conference

We’re also delighted to host our second Future Leaders Conference on 16-18 March 2021 entitled ‘Steering towards a brighter tomorrow’. This virtual conference is designed especially for early career professionals in occupational safety and health.

At the event, you’ll hear from industry experts and have the opportunity to attend workshops and network. So, wherever you are in the world you can take part.

Raising awareness on key dates

In addition, we are proud to support key awareness days including World Cancer Day on 4 February and World Day for Safety and Health at Work and International Workers’ Memorial on 28 April.

This year’s Word Cancer Day theme is, ‘I Am and I Will’, which is all about you and your commitment to act. On the day, we will highlight our No Time to Lose campaign which aims to raise awareness of occupational cancer and help businesses take action by providing free practical resources.

The World Day for Safety and Health at Work is organised by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and is an annual international campaign to promote safe, healthy and decent work. On the same date, Workers’ Memorial Day highlights the preventable nature of most workplace incidents and ill-health and promotes campaigns and union organisation in the fight for improvements in workplace safety.

Take advantage of our member benefits

We also encourage members to utilise our benefits to enhance your career prospects, benefit from the IOSH stamp of excellence, expand your network, and much more. These include:

  • IOSH Mentoring – which is a safe, secure platform for you to connect and build relationships with other OSH professionals. You can sign up to IOSH Mentoring as either a mentee or a mentor. Both roles will allow you to maintain your CPD and increase your future employability
  • The Career Hub – which provides interactive tools and resources to help you get ahead of the competition, secure your next job, and boost your development. You’ll find a range of resources including a CV and cover letter builder, examples of aptitude tests, and an interactive mock interview
  • IOSH Future Leaders Community – is dedicated to new and aspiring OSH professionals with specialised support to enhance your career and help you form new connections in the industry. As a member of the Community, you can benefit from a range of support, including access to our online forum, opportunities to interact with your peers and share your personal experiences, and a range of events and webinars
  • Industry-specific groups and local networks – IOSH groups bring together members with a shared interest or specialist area, to network and exchange information and our branches provide health and safety information to local communities. Our networks promote health and safety by organising meetings and webinars, which provide valuable professional development and networking opportunities
  • IOSH Magazine – will help you stay up to date on regulatory changes and industry good practice. You’ll get regular access to the very latest news, updates and podcasts to keep you well-informed and boost your Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
