On this year´s Intersec in Dubai the company T.ESS GmbH from Germany presented their highly innovative double layered balaclava with EN ISO 13911 certification knitted on 3D seamless machines.
Especially for firefighters and soldiers they are being discussed for years: flame retardant hoods that are being worn underneath the helmets and with breathing masks.
Many known articles have flaws, as their fit, their handling and they may provoke pain causing pressure and they can even limit the field of vision due to the inflexible material.
“after four years of development it didn’t just receive the EN ISO 13911 certification for firefighting hoods, it also excels as a result of the fitting tests”
All this may affect mental concentration and physical performance.
Furthermore, the voluminous material may cause insufficient respiration and defective hearing ability. Also, any hoods do not fit to the breathing masks and some parts of the face remain unprotected.
The fresh company T.ESS GmbH presented the first known flame-retardant balaclava with EN ISO 13911 certification which eliminates all these flaws at Intersec Dubai 2019.
It provides maximum fitting comfort, safety and protection. It´s secret lies in the seamless knitting construction. After four years of development it didn´t just receive the EN ISO 13911 certification for firefighting hoods, it also excels as a result of the fitting tests by Hohenstein Institute with seven different breathing masks.
“The problem with technical, flame-retardant underwear and hoods is the development of yarns, that work on electronical Santoni tubular machines. For seamless knitting opposed yarn has to be used, so there is no twisting; technically spoken: S- and Z-twist. This is the main issue if you are combining special yarns with special functionalities, e.g. flame-retardancy.” Says Thomas Essers, who is developing functional underwear and socks for sports and work wear for many years.
His company T.ESS, which is being managed by his children Philipp Essers and Ann-Kristin Bollmeyer today, offers a broad collection of work wear textiles for different branches with their own online shop www.tessworkwear.com.
