Firefighters battled a fire that broke out at an under construction shopping mall in Jumeirah One on Sunday, Dubai Civil Defense said.
The fire, which was reported at 5:25pm, sent plumes of smoke into the sky from Jumeirah Beach Road.
Initial investigations showed that the fire had broken out in the basement of the building.
A spokesperson from Civil Defense said Firefighting teams from four civil stations rushed to the scene to control the fire and ensure it did not extend to neighboring buildings.
Lieutenant Colonel Hussain Al Rahoumi, Director of Al Quoz Centre, confirmed that no one was reported injured in the blaze.
“We were alerted about the fire at 5:25pm and the firefighters reached the scene within six minutes. The fire broke out at an under-construction shopping mall called The Agora,” he said.
