Dubai Creek Project Passes Safety Milestone

Five million man hours with zero lost time incidents reached

Al Naboodah Construction Group (ANCG) has achieved five million man hours worked without a lost time accident at its landmark Dubai Creek Harbour site.

The contractor is building a pair of 37-storey towers with residential units, penthouses and commercial units, plus external works and landscaping at Creekside Plot 18-A within the 6 sq km development by Emaar Properties.

“Projects of this type come with their own unique challenges due to working at extreme height and the need for getting heavy equipment on high levels,” said Moustafa Hassan, Project Director.

“We have reached the 33rd level without any lost time accidents which is quite an achievement on a project of this scale and scope. Even a small stone or tool dropped from such a height could be fatal if it hit someone, so it is a testimony to the training in safety standards instilled in our workforce, and diligence of all our workers that we have not had any lost time injury since the project began in January 2017.”

Workers gathered at a ceremony to celebrate the landmark. Certificates of achievement were handed out to personnel who were instrumental in training and supervising staff in order to keep HSE standards high.

David Evans, CEO ANCG congratulated the team, saying: “We spare no cost in providing proper equipment and man hours on training as protecting our workforce is our top priority. This is a commendable milestone but we must not be complacent as there is no finish line in safety. We have to stay vigilant every day.”

Work is on-track with 33 of the 37 floors complete and the entire project is due for delivery in mid-2019.

To date, a total of 70,000 cubic metres of concrete have been poured and 18,000 tonnes of steel used.
