Speaker – Nick Bell FIIRSM

Nick previously worked as CDM Co-ordinator within an architectural practice and then as Construction Safety Manager for a large University in the South West. He served on the Wales branch of the Association for Project Safety and his articles on the duties of construction clients have been published in various professional magazines. When CDM 2015 was coming into force, Nick worked with IIRSM to develop and deliver CPD events across the UK receiving great feedback from delegates. He has written and delivers accredited training for Principal Designers and for Construction clients, and has delivered courses to well over 400 delegates. Realising that clients were struggling to apply CDM 2015 to smaller projects he wrote and published “Construction Health and Safety in the Weird and Wonderful World of Facilities Management”. Nick has been self-employed for 2.5 years and, amongst other things, is currently supporting two Universities in managing their duties as construction clients.

When he is not up to his neck in CDM, Nick is completing a PhD in which he is investigating the association between worker engagement and health and safety behaviour. This builds on a recent Masters degree in Occupational Health and Safety and his initial training and work in the field of Psychology.
