A man got trapped in a deep pit and was almost buried alive at a construction site in Al Barsha area before emergency workers came, police said on Tuesday.
Rescuers carried out a five-hour operation to bring the Asian man to a safer ground from pit filled with running groundwater. The man was trapped after sand and gravel collapsed on him, said rescuers.
A rescue team led by Captain Abdullah Al Rahoomi carried out the rescue operation. Emergency workers used mechanized descent tools, a water pump and other rescue equipment to pull out the worker.
