HSI and HSME are two magazines I have used to advertise and inform the market of who we are and what we do, for many years.
Both publications get to the heart of the safety and personnel protection industry and are very highly regarded by the industry.
You can often judge the quality of the magazines by the people concerned, and in my many years association with Bay Publishing it is very apparent that the staff are very professional, of great integrity, but unlike many publications Bay Publishing like to work long term with their customers and are treated as friends, not just a customer.

MARKETING - In the right place at the right time.
While in the Middle East and enduring the ravaging summer last year (2009), my mind was somewhat focused on where we would get the greatest market coverage and product exposure while considering commercial viability, that and my commission as we were nowhere near the budget expectation and market trend and close to the year end.
With all sales managers, most time is spent on the road with a fair amount of that time sitting in a reception politely waiting for the appointment… It was at this point, that I added a topic to the discussions of “what was the preferred reading matter of the day”, HMV aside due to local cultural guidelines, realised fairly quickly that most of the magazines in the reception and offices which were read had to be interesting.
From the genuine feedback, we then chose to advertise with HSME for the first time, the results were fairly successful and became of greater interest when in an appointment or cold call we were being asked if we were the ones in the periodical, the penny then dropped as the realisation of coverage and awareness of the HSME magazine came to light.
As a contributing factor, the 2010 budget was achieved by October of the year and our focus on the market from the feedback angle increased enormously.
At that point HSME appeared to be a clear winner as it related to our target market coverage.
